Scope of the job

From developing new strategies to running actual projects, all our goals and actions are measured against a strong patient-centric approach. The Senior Scientist nurtures this mindset and helps drive an oncology drug discovery project from target validation to clinical candidate identification. Our ultimate goal is to discover and deliver transformative precision medicines to cancer patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Be part of a team of cell biologists responsible for validating new oncology targets and progressing projects from concept to clinical testing

  • Provide experimental and scientific input to support short and long-term objectives in drug discovery projects

  • Masters most critical technologies, independently learns/proposes new technologies and can independently troubleshoot on any kind of technology

  • Directly coordinates with different stake holders to drive the program forward: internal team and CROs

  • Validates new targets by generating robust data package to support the entry of new targets in Oncology discovery portfolio

  • Propose, design and execute complex assay or study plans in accordance with the project priorities/requirements

  • Directly interacts with matrix team to drive program forward: internal team but also external CROs

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert/go-to person: technical, scientific or operational

  • Communicate key findings/progress by written reports and oral presentations

  • Organize, coordinate and  prioritize own tasks and plan and guide daily experiments of team member(s) (when appropriate)

  • Show critical attitude towards generated data and analysis methods being used

  • Active mentoring role and educating of team members on processes, complex technologies or tasks

 

Job requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, life sciences or a relevant discipline with 0-2 years of working experience in pharmaceutical industry, biotech, or in a CRO setting or at least 5 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties at the scientist 1 level

  • A purely academic background (PhD + post-doctoral experience) acceptable based on relevant experience level

  • Have deep understanding of scientific background and technologies in the field of Oncology drug discovery

  • A proven track record and extensive practical experience in cellular assay building and usage of multiple types of readouts and molecular biology techniques (e.g. high content imaging, FACS, transcriptomics, qPCR, PCR, construct design, DNA engineering tools, etc.)

  • In vitro and ex vivo cell pharmacology/Oncology drug discovery experience is a must

  • A highly creative "out-of-the-box" mindset, a broad biological interest and an interest to work on disease relevant assays to identify ways to treat patients

  • As a team player, you promote an open and supportive climate and a collaborative organization

  • Your excellent presentation skills guarantee a proper communication during meetings or amongst teams

  • Accurate, reliable, critical, well organized, ability to handle multiple tasks and projects

  • Passionate about bringing new transformative medicines to cancer patients

  • Being fluent in English, both written and spoken is a must for our international work environment
