Senior Associate Scientist Oncology

Scope of the job

As senior associate scientist, you will play a critical role in the design, execution, and analysis of scientific experiments to support and advance our precision oncology portfolio. This role combines hands-on experimental work with lab management responsibilities and coordination with internal and external partners to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Be part of a team of cell biologists responsible for validating new oncology targets and progressing projects from concept to clinical testing

  • Select and adapt the most relevant technical approach to address a project question

  • Organize and realize experiments in order to obtain reliable and consistent scientific data with general guidance and planning by manager

  • Flexibly adapt experiment planning based on changing priorities in the project

  • Ensure data quality and integrity: critically analyze data, report issues timely, identify causes of inconclusive or failed experiments and discrepancies, compare to previous data and suggest corrective measures autonomously

  • Organize and present own results and scientific data in a clear and comprehensive manner (written and oral) for review by manager

  • Understand the goal of own team’s activities (working on the same project) and put own contribution to these activities in perspective

  • Actively collaborate with project stakeholders inside the company as well as coordinate collaborations with CROs

  • Participate in sharing ideas and knowledge with peers (e.g. ask questions during own area team/group meetings)

  • Contribute to the productivity of the laboratory (back-up for other teams, etc.)

  • Maintain operational excellence in the laboratory: laboratory management (e.g. lab cleaning, EHS, maintenance of equipment...)

  • Teaches others in team on processes and techniques

 

Job requirements

  • Msc. in Biology, Biochemistry, life sciences or a relevant discipline with 3-5 years of experience or a B.S. with 4-8 years of relevant R&D experience in biotech or pharma industry

  • A proven track record and extensive practical experience in cellular assay building and usage of multiple types of readouts and molecular biology techniques (e.g. high content imaging, FACS, transcriptomics, qPCR, PCR, construct design, DNA engineering tools, etc.)

  • In vitro and ex vivo cell pharmacology/Oncology drug discovery experience is a plus

  • A highly creative "out-of-the-box" mindset, a broad biological interest and an interest to work on disease relevant assays to identify ways to treat patients
