Pieter Peeters

With over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, he brings deep expertise at the intersection of data science, bioengineering, and technology-driven drug discovery. Prior to Onco3R, Pieter served as Head of Discovery Sciences at Galapagos, where he led global teams supporting small molecule and cell therapy discovery across the R&D portfolio. He was instrumental in building and deploying AI-based platforms that enhanced early development capabilities and accelerated decision-making. Prior to Galapagos, Pieter spent over two decades at Janssen Pharmaceutica (J&J Innovative Medicine), where he held leadership roles within Janssen Research & Development. Starting as a bench scientist, he advanced into senior leadership, where he led global initiatives in technology innovation, translational science, and data-driven pipeline development. Pieter earned his PhD in Applied Biological Sciences at the Center for Human Genetics at KU Leuven, and holds a degree in bioengineering from KU Leuven with a specialization in cell and gene technology and interphase chemistry. He is known for his multidisciplinary approach, operational and scientific leadership, and commitment to enabling innovation through smart technology platforms.
